Colony's debut album. Self Released from bandcamp and archive.org. Mostly ambient, sometimes dubstep sort of drums assorted.

This release reminded me of Orbital's "Orbital 2", the brown one. This one, more ambient though.
So like the brown album, you should first listen through as it is ordered. Like I said, it is mostly beatless, but rather than the solid sound, each track is pretty simply made.

Like most of the electronica, ambient albums, when you finish listening, although there is no lyrics or liner-notes, you get the feeling of what they want to express through out the album. This album does "that" thing also.

This album lets you to concentrate on this album. In other words, lets you escape from your reality for 79minutes. Take this album and listen when you are on your train to somewhere else.




2010年12月リリース。Colonyによるデビューアルバム。Colonyについては自身のブログでしか確たる情報はなく、謎が多いです。当アルバムはというと、アンビエント、一時ダブステップ。な。

まずは一通りちゃんとトラック順に聞くことをオススメします。最近めっきりCDリリースされた有名なニカなアーティストのアルバム聞いてなかったのですが、これを聞いてエレクトロニカにはまった頃のCDたちを思い出しました。

こう、、、もやっとした全体を包むまとまり感。聞いた前と後では世界線が少しかわった感じのあの事後感。あのキスの前と後とでは､世界のなにもかもがｒｙ

全体を通してほとんどビート無しです。ほんとダブステップのようなリズム隊やブレイクビーツは最小限に使われています。そうすることで明らかに程よい「物足りなさ」を演出している感じで、まんまとハマって何度も聞いてしまいます。

それでも嫌らしさを感じないのはアルバムほとんどを占めているミニマル感あふれるアンビエントサウンドがとても良質なのだからか。ベース音の間違いなさもあります。逆に全体を通して感じる大人な雰囲気、大御所感がすがすがしく嫌らしいです。

そんなこんなで一番のオススメはM7.Fill the distance。
展開は、フワフワなウワモノ→ベース音→ドラム→コード音
と割と定番な感じですが、すべてが重なったとき、たまらなくカッコいいのです。
そして曲もそれほど長くないので、コード音が重なったら割とすぐ終わって酩酊モードへ。
盛り上がりきらない感じが良い。


荒涼とした大地で、一人立ち竦みながらお聞きください。
